According to Microsoft, you need to make a change to your WSUS or Configuration Manager settings once users in your company start upgrading to Windows 1903, also known as the 2019 Spring Update.
In Configuration Manager, make sure you’re running at least version 1902 of System Center Configuration Manager. In addition to Windows 10, you also need to check the following new options in Software Update Point Component Properties:
- Windows 10, version 1903 and later
- Windows Server, version 1903 and later
In WSUS, open the Update Services console, then Options > Products and Classifications. In the Products tab, select
- Windows 10, version 1903 and later
- Windows Server, version 1903 and later
If you don’t do this, updates intended for the current versions of Windows 10 and Windows Server may not be reliably applied. This is a mandatory change.
Microsoft is doing this to enable future support for their Unified Update Platform. While that isn’t ready yet, it will provide “improved delivery technologies” for Windows updates. So this is just laying the groundwork for more efficient updates in the future.
