PEI’s Made to Stick Story: Friendship
Recently I have been involved in a marketing program that is teaching us, why some ideas stick and why some do not. We have been assigned a task of coming up with our companies “made to stick” story.
Everyone can look at your company website and figure out what you do and most of the time, how you do it, but the element of why a company does what they do can be hard to find. I have been thinking about this for the last couple of days. What is PEI’s made to stick story? Why do we do what we do and why should people care enough to remember it and tell out story to someone else? The idea that kept coming back to me was relationships, better yet friendships.
PEI was founded 23 years ago by two brothers. They opened up shop in a spare bedroom with one computer. So relationships are at the core of PEI. PEI’s very first client 23 years ago is still one of our biggest clients today. Working with a company for 23 years is awesome and we have built a bond with these people that are irreplaceable.
Another reason that building relationships drives what we do stems from another comment I heard at work recently. I was chatting with one of our Account Managers about relationships at PEI. He told me, “I consider my clients friends and if one of them needed something completely unrelated to IT, I would be there for them.” This comment really resonated with me. Everyone says their business is based off of relationships, but how many of them can say they base their business off friendships. We all take our friends advice pretty seriously, so maybe that is our “made to stick” story, we do what we do to form the lifelong friendships that we have. Now based on if anyone reads this blog I can say I either figured out our “made to stick,” story, or maybe I need to go back to the drawing board!
